Snowsong, to depressed to talk tagged slowly along behind the patrol.

Lightningbelly raised his head from Fernwing to see Snowpaw and the patrol entering. Something was wrong. Where was Azureflight?

Bonestripe was sitting by the entrance when the patrol came in. All heads were down and she could feel a hush moving across the clan as Coppersong and Snowpaw made their way over to Icestar.

wIcestar leaped down from the cleft on which she stood and padded over to the patrol, "what's wrong, where's Azureflight?" she asked.

Spiritstep stepped forward. "Snowpaw says he was killed when the earth shook."

(GASP SHOCK, epic end to chapter of RockClan!)

Coppersong led her patrol down back into the tunnels. It's the full moon tonight. she thought to herself.

Icestar leaped up onto high-ledge and watched as Coppersong led her patrol back into camp.

"May all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here under high-ledge for a clan meeting!" she yowled.

Owlsight and his apprentice, Earthpaw, dropped the bats they had caught onto the kill pile and then sat near Lightningbelly, who called out for his mate, Fernwing.
The young she-cat Featherbird, who was on Coppersong's patrol, followed Coppersong and sat under the high-ledge. Wolfkit and Oatkit stopped their game and looked up at Icestar.

Fernwing padded over to her mate and pressed against his side.

"Tonight is the night of the gathering, these are the cats selected to go: Coppersong, Snowsong, Frostfall, Lightningbelly, Bonestripe, Kestrelclaw, Milkfeather, Speckledear, Earthpaw, Featherpaw, Moonfur and Owlsight," Icestar announced, naming each cat in turn, then she leaped down from the ledge. That never gets any easier.. she thought, I wonder if I'll ever be as good a leader as my father.

"Take care, Fernwing." Lightningbelly told his mate, before walking away.

Earthpaw followed his mentor, giving Honeypaw a sympathetic look.

Oatkit mewed. "Awwwwwww! Why can't we go!?"
Whiteberry brushed her kits with her tail. "It's alright. Jut wait another five moons and you'll be going almost every moon for the rest of your lives."
Wolfkit rolled his eyes before sighing and joining Oatkit as thy suckled on their mother's nourishing teats.

Honeypaw blinked sadly back at Earthpaw and padded over to Tallpaw, she guessed that the other she-cat would attend the next gathering, she'd probably become a warrior within the next moon.

Icestar led the clan out of camp through one of the wider tunnels.

Lightingbelly full-heartedly greeted his mate as he returned, as though he hadn't seen her in a moon. "I missed you," he said, purring with love.

"And I missed you, my love," Fernwing purred and rubbed against Lightningbelly.

Coppersong went into the warriors den into her nest, curled up and fell asleep.

Icestar padded into her den to rest, she'd address her clan in the morning.

Coppersong was awoken by Lightningbelly returning to the den from the dirtplace. It was soon time to organise the patrols.

Icestar squirmed in her nest like a kit with a belly ache. She was anxious and worried, her anger had receded and she was left with doubt. What should I do? she shook her head in frustration. I could ask Coppersong for advice... she sighed and flattened herself onto the ground. But the clan might see that as weak.... no, it's the best thing to do, she's my deputy for a reason.

Milkfeather had slept restlessly, a constant unease in his belly from the gathering bothering him. As Coppersong stretched, he approached the she-cat. "I will join the dawn patrol. I can't sleep."

Thrushwing lay in her nest quietly, watching as Birdkit and Eaglekit played with each other, despite how early it was. Swallowkit lay still asleep beside her.

Icestar decided she couldn't sleep and got to her paws. She padded out of her den and to the nursery to visit her sister. She saw Mossfur and her kits asleep in their nest and silently walked over to her sister's nest.

Thrushwing looked up from her nest as a sleek, pure-white she-cat padded into the nursery. "Hi, Icestar," she meowed.

"Hey, Thrushwing," Icestar sighed. "Did you hear about the gathering last night?"

Thrushwing shook her head. "No, I didn't. What happened?" She twitched her tail, interested.

"Well... Heronstar was provoking Applestar and he sound like he wanted to start a war, I don't know why though, Harestar and I tried to reason with them but Mothstar told us to let the experienced leaders deal with it," Icestar sighed and looked down at her paws. "It was horrible."

Thrushwing's blue eyes widened as her sister explained. "I can tell," she murmured, nodding her head slightly. "That's just terrible."
